Makerverse is a professional maker-education studio where curiosity becomes capability. We run structured, hands-on experiences — in our purpose-built Newcastle studio and online — that take people from "I've never touched one of these" to genuinely capable, in a single session. Real tools. Real outcomes. Someone beside you who knows what they're doing.

We're backed by Core Electronics, Australia's leading maker community, which means our people always work with the latest gear and the best brands. We've launched in Newcastle, and we're building toward more cities around Australia.

We're looking for our Maker Education Lead — a foundational hire who will own how we teach, shape what we teach, and help us grow.

Turn curiosity into capability.

We're looking for our Maker Education Lead — a foundational hire who will own how we teach, shape what we teach, and help us grow.

About the role

This is a 3-month engagement at 20+ hours a week (3+ days, onsite in Cardiff). There is plenty of opportunity to stay on afterwards as this role transitions into a routine.

This is the person who sets the standard for maker education at Makerverse.

You'll build out our catalogue of experiences, deliver them brilliantly, and — as we scale — train the people who deliver them after you. You'll also work closely with the founders on business development, helping turn strong education into a growing business.

It's a hands-on, build-it-with-us role for someone who feels completely at home in the maker scene and wants the room to run with it.

What you'll do

Build the experiences

- Design and develop around 12–16 structured maker experiences across in-studio and virtual delivery, from beginner to advanced
- Turn industrial and maker skills — 3D printing, laser cutting (CO₂ and fibre), electronics, prototyping — into clear, repeatable, outcome-driven sessions
- Create the supporting materials, guides, and lesson structure that make every session land the same way, every time

Teach and train the trainers

- Deliver experiences yourself to small groups of beginners, enthusiasts, and industry professionals
- Build our train-the-trainer approach so new instructors can deliver to a consistent, high standard as the team grows
- Keep sessions safe, structured, and genuinely capability-building

Help us grow

- Work with the founders on business development — partnerships, industry and professional programs, and new opportunities
- Feed into how we package, price,

and position experiences
- Help lay the groundwork for launching in new cities

About you

You live and breathe making. You're comfortable and confident across a range of maker and industrial technologies, and you love helping other people get their hands dirty and succeed.

Essential

- Strong hands-on capability across maker/industrial technologies (e.g. 3D printing, laser cutting, electronics, prototyping, digital fabrication)
- Real experience teaching, training, facilitating, or instructing — and you're good at it
- The ability to design a session or program from scratch, not just deliver someone else's
- Clear communicator who can meet a nervous beginner and a seasoned professional in the same day
- Organised and structured — you plan the work and the work has a plan
- Comfortable operating in an early-stage, build-it-as-we-go environment

Nice to have

- Curriculum, instructional design, or VET/training experience
- A track record of train-the-trainer or leading other instructors
- Exposure to business development, partnerships, or commercial program design
- Relevant tickets, tickets, certifications, or trade/industry background
- An existing footprint in the Australian maker or STEM community

Why Makerverse

- A foundational role with real ownership — you'll shape how a growing company teaches
- Genuine room to grow as we expand across Australia
- The backing of Core Electronics and access to leading tools, brands, and platforms
- A purpose-built studio and small, deliberately capped groups — teaching the way it should be done
- A team that loves this stuff as much as you do
