Role: Senior Data Engineer
Position: 12-month (full time)
Daily Rate: $1000 - $1100 per day
Start Date: 10th August 2026
Location / Office: Melbourne CBD, with 3 days in the office

About

We're looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join a well-established technology team at a large industry-leading business, working at the pointy end of data platforms, AI enablement and enterprise integration.

This is a senior, hands-on role. You'll own the full lifecycle of data engineering solutions, from designing scalable pipelines through to production deployment and support, working across structured, semi-structured and unstructured data that fuels analytics, machine learning and Generative AI initiatives.

What you'll be doing

You’ll build and maintain enterprise-grade pipelines using Python and PySpark, supporting everything from forecasting and segmentation to customer intelligence and GenAI use cases. You’ll integrate core enterprise systems, developing ingestion frameworks and file-based transfers.

On the platform side, you’ll work with modern cloud tools such as Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse or Databricks, shaping Bronze, Silver and Gold data layers and helping define what the platform looks like as it matures.

You’ll also partner closely with Data Scientists to get ML models into production, build the feature engineering pipelines that support them, and bring solid DataOps and MLOps thinking to the table.



Data quality, governance and monitoring aren’t an afterthought here; you’ll be building the frameworks that keep things reliable at scale.

This role sits at the intersection of deep technical delivery and stakeholder engagement, so you’re just as comfortable in a solution design workshop with Product Owners as you are deep in a pipeline troubleshooting a production issue.

What you’ll bring

- 10+ years' experience in enterprise-scale data engineering and integration
- Strong hands-on expertise in PySpark and data modelling
- Proven experience with cloud data platforms in production (Fabric, Synapse, Databricks or similar)
- Experience integrating enterprise systems
- Solid background in CI/CD, Git, DevOps and automated testing frameworks
- Experience supporting AI/ML initiatives and MLOps practices highly regarded
