About the Role
As aFinancialsystem accountant, you will play a key role incontinually reviewing anddeliveringthe effective administration, optimisation, and continuous improvement of Council’s financial systems(e.g.TechnologyOne). The Financial Systems Accountantwillenable theaccuratereporting, efficient processes,
and informed decision-makingacross the Shire.

Reporting to the Head of Financial Services the core responsibilities include:
- Maintain and optimise the organisation’s financial systems (e.g.TechnologyOne), ensuring system integrity, reliability, and alignment with business needs.
Financial Systems/Process Improvement & Automation
- Provide expert advice and support toidentify, design, and implement process improvements and automation opportunitiesincluding managing updates and upgrades and recent featuresto enhance efficiency, data accuracy, and user experience across finance functions.
Data Integrity & Reporting
- Develop reports to enable theFinance & Procurement unitto deliver data needs to the organisation.Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data, including chart of accounts and system configurations, while supporting the delivery oftimely and insightful financial and management reports.
Stakeholder Support & Training
- Provide expert system support, training, and guidance to finance and non‑finance users, translating business requirements into practical system solutions and improving overall capability.
About You
- Education &Experience;–Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, withdemonstratedexperience in financial systems administration (preferably within a local government or public sector environment). CPA/CA qualification or working towards is desirable.
- Written & Oral Communication –Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear, user‑friendly guidance, and effectively engage with stakeholders across all levels of the organisation.
- Technical & Systems Expertise–Experience with ERP systems (ideallyTechnologyOne), advanced Excel skills, and familiarity with reporting.Proven ability in system configuration,report development, and process mapping.
- Analytical & Problem Solving–Well‑developed analytical skills with a strong attention to detail, and the ability to diagnose issues, interpret business needs, and deliver practical, efficient solutions.
