AFC is a leading fresh sushi and Japanese food business, operating a network of fresh sushi kiosks across Australia under the Sushi Izu brand. With a strong focus on quality, freshness and food safety, AFC supplies fresh, made-on-site sushi to customers every day through its franchise network.

About the role

We're looking for a Food Safety Specialist to join AFC on a field-based basis across Melbourne and Victoria. Reporting to the Quality Assurance and Regulatory Manager, you'll make sure every sushi kiosk in your territory is meeting its regulatory and food safety obligations and operating in line with AFC's Food Safety and Quality Management System.

This is a hands-on, autonomous role out in the field - auditing kiosks, coaching franchisees and their teams, and keeping food safety standards high across the network.

What you'll be doing

- Managing the GMP audit schedule and conducting regular GMP audits of sushi kiosks
- Raising reports and non-conformances to the Quality Team and franchisees, and closing them out by re-visiting kiosks and re-assessing staff for compliance
- Conducting six-monthly environmental swabbing and ensuring results are within specification
- Investigating customer complaints, completing root-cause analysis and compiling reports for the retailer's food safety team, with prompt close-out
- Ensuring each kiosk has an appointed Food Safety Supervisor with current, valid certification
- Delivering induction training to new franchisees,

assessing prospective franchisees, and managing the online training program to full completion
- Guiding kiosks in their preparation for major retailer quality-assurance audits, representing AFC at those audits, and arranging re-training where non-conformances are identified

About you

- Experience in food safety, quality assurance or GMP auditing - ideally within food retail, foodservice or manufacturing
- Sound working knowledge of GMP, HACCP and food safety standards
- Confident conducting audits, investigating non-conformances and driving corrective actions to close-out
- Comfortable training, coaching and influencing others, including franchisees and kiosk staff
- A food safety or food science qualification (or food safety supervisor / auditing certifications) well regarded
- A current driver's licence and your own reliable vehicle - this is a field-based role with regular travel to kiosks across the territory
- A confident communicator who works well autonomously and builds strong relationships with franchisees, store teams and auditors

Join a well-established fresh food business where food safety genuinely matters, in a diverse, autonomous role that gets you out in the field rather than behind a desk. You'll have real ownership of standards across your territory and the chance to make a tangible difference to quality every day.
