NORTHSIX is partnering with an established hire and service business to find their next Workshop Leading Hand.

The Role
This is a workshop based role for someone who takes ownership, leads by example, and genuinely enjoys the work. You'll be responsible for the day-to-day running of a busy service workshop, keeping the team productive & jobs progressing

Responsibilites

- Leading, mentoring, and supporting workshop technicians to develop their capability and confidence
- Coordinating and prioritising workshop jobs to ensure they're completed safely, efficiently, and on time
- Providing technical support across mechanical and diesel work, diagnostics, fault-finding, and complex repairs
- Ensuring all equipment is serviced, tested, and returned clean, fully operational, and ready for deployment
- Maintaining clear communication with internal teams on equipment status, turnaround times, and priorities
- Keeping the workshop safe, organised,



and compliant at all times
- Supporting accurate job recording, time tracking, and communication of chargeable items to the Service Coordinator

About You

This is as much a culture hire as a technical one. The right person takes pride in their work, brings personality to the team, and lifts the people around them

- Experience in a workshop, power generation, or heavy industry environment
- Diesel mechanic trade qualification, preferred but not essential
- Comfortable leading and mentoring technicians
- Strong on safety, compliance, and secure systems of work
- Forklift licence and white card advantageous
- Candidates from fitting and turning, boilermaking, or heavy fabrication backgrounds encouraged to apply
