We are currently seeking an experienced Maintenance and Grounds Officer to join our team at one of our valued school clients in Melbourne’s south eastern suburbs.

About the Role
Reporting to the Facilities Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining the school's grounds, gardens and buildings to the highest standard. This is a diverse role combining horticultural, grounds and general maintenance responsibilities, with a strong focus on proactive property improvements and exceptional customer service.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining lawns, gardens and landscaped areas
- Mowing, edging, pruning, mulching, planting and weed control
- Undertake general maintenance and handyman repairs
- Support school events with room and grounds set-up
- Coordinate and supervise contractors on site
- Identification of maintenance issues and implementing proactive improvements
- Maintaining a safe, clean and well‑presented school environment
- Building positive relationships with school staff, contractors and the Danihers team
About You
You are reliable, proactive and enjoy working outdoors. You take pride in your work,
have excellent attention to detail and are committed to delivering outstanding service.
To be successful you will have:
- Previous experience in grounds, gardens and general maintenance in a similar environment
- Cert III in Horticulture
- Experience operating horticultural equipment and machinery
- Strong handyman skills with the ability to undertake minor repairs
- Plant identification knowledge
- Demonstrated experience working with a variety of stakeholders
- A proactive approach with excellent problem‑solving skills
- Outstanding communication and customer service skills
- The ability to work independently and manage your workload effectively within a fast‑paced environment.
- A current Chemical Users/Weed Spraying Certificate (or equivalent)
- A current Working with Children Check
- A current National Police Check
- A current Australian Driver Licence
- Experience working within a school or education environment will be highly regarded.
