About the role

We are seeking enthusiastic Landscape Labour or Apprentices to join our growing team at Petersen Landscapes in Wollongong, NSW. This is a full-time position that offers an excellent opportunity to build a rewarding career in the landscaping and gardening industry. Whether you are looking to start as a general labourer or begin your formal apprenticeship journey, this role will provide you with hands‑on experience, mentorship, and the chance to develop valuable skills in a dynamic outdoor environment. You will work on‑site at various landscaping projects across the Wollongong region, contributing to the creation of high‑quality outdoor spaces.

Key responsibilities

- Assist with site preparation, including clearing, levelling, and measuring areas for landscaping projects
- Help with the installation of landscape features such as gardens, pathways, paving, and irrigation systems
- Perform general labour duties including digging, planting, mulching, and soil preparation
- Operate and maintain hand tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner
- Support experienced landscapers and team members in executing project designs and specifications
- Maintain cleanliness and safety on work sites by removing debris and following health and safety protocols
- Assist with landscape maintenance tasks such as pruning, weeding, and lawn care




- Contribute to team efforts to meet project deadlines and maintain high‑quality standards
- Undertake formal training and complete apprenticeship modules (if applicable to your pathway)

What we’re looking for

- A genuine interest in landscaping, gardening, or the trades industry
- Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour in outdoor conditions
- Willingness to learn and develop current skills under supervision
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic
- Basic communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team
- A commitment to health and safety standards on site
- Full, valid Australian driving licence (highly desirable)
- HSE induction or willingness to complete induction training
- For apprenticeship positions: academic qualifications or the ability to pursue part‑time study relevant to landscape horticulture or a related trade
- No prior experience necessary – we welcome applications from school leavers and career changers
