Our client is a highly respected commercial builder with a solid reputation for delivering quality education, healthcare and community infrastructure projects across Melbourne. With a healthy pipeline of secured work and continued growth, they're seeking a Design Coordinator to support the successful delivery of projects from design development through to completion.

This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced Project Managers and site teams on projects ranging from $20M–$60M, where you'll play a key role in coordinating consultants, managing design documentation and ensuring projects are delivered efficiently.

The Role

Reporting to the Project Manager, you’ll be responsible for coordinating the design process across multiple projects, ensuring documentation is complete, buildable and aligned with programme requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

- Coordinate consultants throughout design and construction phases.
- Manage design programmes, RFIs and design deliverables.
- Review drawings for buildability, coordination and compliance.
- Work closely with Project Managers, Site Managers and subcontractors to resolve design issues.
- Facilitate design meetings and maintain consultant action registers.
- Assist with value engineering and design optimisation.
- Support procurement by ensuring documentation is complete and coordinated.

About You

We’re looking for someone who enjoys collaborating with people and has a genuine interest in delivering quality commercial construction projects.

You’ll ideally have:

- Experience as a Design Coordinator, Design Manager or Project Coordinator working on commercial construction projects.
- Exposure to education, healthcare, government or institutional projects.
- Strong understanding of design management throughout the construction lifecycle.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to review documentation with a practical construction mindset.
- Relevant qualification in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering or a related discipline.
