Working at CQUniversity
CQUniversity is seeking Indigenous Student Advising Specialists to join our Indigenous Student Advising Team and provide culturally grounded, personalised support to students throughout their study journey.
In this role, you will draw on your organisational networks to deliver holistic, proactive guidance while contributing to service excellence across the team. This involves providing clear advice and resolving general enquiries, supporting and empowering students to overcome obstacles.
You will act as an escalation point for advisors, maintain accurate CRM records, identify service improvements, and help shape knowledge resources that strengthen student success and retention.
As an Indigenous Student Advising Specialist, you will also mentor colleagues, support quality assurance activities, and participate in student events and targeted programs — ensuring our Indigenous students feel welcomed, supported and connected throughout their CQUniversity experience.

Position Requirements
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultures, with the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively.
- Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in information systems and Microsoft software applications.
- Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills, with an understanding of the needs of culturally diverse communities.
- Exceptional time management, organisational and problem‑solving skills with great attention to detail.
- Degree‑level study or Diploma with subsequent experience, or an equivalent blend of education and practical expertise.
