Company Description SDS – Safety Direct Solutions (RTO 51632) is a Western Australia–based provider of high quality, environmentally responsible occupational safety, health, emergency response, and training services. The organization delivers nationally accredited safety and emergency response training either at client sites or at its purpose-built facility in Balcatta.

SDS employs qualified and experienced professionals in safety, training, assessment, and emergency response to help manage risks with a focus on zero harm outcomes. Through close consultation with clients, SDS designs practical risk management and emergency response solutions supported by modern training tools, including an environmentally friendly Bullex Live Fire ITS V2.0 simulator. SDS has the capability to support all aspects of on-site occupational safety and health risk management and emergency response procedures across diverse industries.

Role Description The Emergency Response Technician is a casual, on-site role based in Darwin, NT. This position is responsible for participating in and supporting emergency response operations, including incident preparedness, first response to emergencies, and implementation of site emergency procedures.
Day-to-day tasks include monitoring and maintaining emergency equipment, conducting safety and emergency drills, and assisting with hazard identification and risk assessments. The role collaborates with site management, safety personnel, and training teams to ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations and organizational policies.

The technician also supports training activities by sharing practical emergency response insights,



contributing to continuous improvement of site safety and emergency readiness, and maintaining accurate incident and activity records.

Qualifications

- Required Qualifications for ERT: White Card, Operate Open Circuit Breathing Apparatus, Advanced First Aid, Undertake Confined Space Rescue, Undertake Vertical Rescue. *Desirable qualifications: Safe Work at Height, Enter and Work in Confined Space, Issue Work permits (paid an additional rate)

Permit Issuer: white card, safe work at height, work and enter in confined space and permit issuing.

Demonstrated skills in emergency response operations, including incident management, first intervention, and application of site emergency procedures. Competence in occupational health and safety practices, hazard identification, and risk assessment within industrial or high-risk environments. Experience using and maintaining emergency response equipment, such as fire suppression systems, breathing apparatus, and rescue tools. Strong communication and teamwork abilities to coordinate effectively with site personnel, supervisors, and external emergency services. Relevant certifications in emergency response, fire and rescue, or industrial safety (e.g., confined space rescue, first aid/CPR, HAZMAT awareness) and willingness to obtain additional qualifications as required. Ability to follow structured procedures, maintain clear records, and work safely under pressure and in challenging environments. Availability to work full-time in office in Darwin, NT, including participation in drills, training, and potential after-hours emergency response as required. Previous experience in emergency services, mining, oil and gas, industrial operations, or similar sectors is highly regarded.
