Every day at Collingwood Children's Farm, thousands of visitors connect with nature, food production, animals and community in the heart of the city. We are looking for an experienced Horticulture Manager to lead our productive gardens, inspire visitors, and help create meaningful employment opportunities for people with different abilities.

This is a unique opportunity for a hands‑on horticultural leader who enjoys working alongside their team, leading by example and maintaining a strong presence in the gardens. Most of your time will be spent on the ground, supporting the productivity, educational value and sustainability of the Farm's market and flower gardens while fostering an engaging and inclusive environment.

You'll have the opportunity to shape the future of the Farm's market and flower gardens, developing productive growing systems, creating beautiful seasonal displays, expanding educational experiences and contributing to the Farm's long‑term sustainability. This is a role for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves while also having the opportunity to influence strategy, introduce new ideas and leave a lasting legacy.

A unique aspect of this role is supporting our supported employees as they develop practical horticultural skills, confidence and meaningful employment pathways. You'll help create an inclusive workplace where everyone can contribute and succeed.

This role is available as 0.8–1.0 FTE, working 8:54am–5:00pm, with Saturday and/or Sunday work forming part of the roster.

What you'll need to succeed

- Demonstrated experience managing horticultural operations, market gardens, flower production, community gardens, farms or similar productive growing environments
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Horticulture or a related discipline (or equivalent industry experience)
- Demonstrated knowledge of sustainable horticultural practices, soil health, plant production, irrigation systems, composting and organic waste management
- Proven experience leading and developing teams, including performance management, coaching and workforce planning
- Experience managing budgets, resources and operational plans to achieve commercial and productivity outcomes
- Experience delivering educational programs, workshops, visitor experiences or community engagement activities is desirable

- NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Current First Aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain)
