BRE Services has grown from a specialist electrical contractor into one of Melbourne's leading industrial service providers, with a team of over 170 people delivering electrical, mechanical, automation and engineering solutions to some of Australia's best-known manufacturers. As our mechanical division continues to expand, we're establishing a new fabrication and mechanical workshop in Dandenong South, and we're looking for an experienced Factory Supervisor / Leading Hand – Boiler Maker to help shape it from the ground up. This is a full-time opportunity to become one of the key people driving the future of BRE's mechanical division - not just another welding job.

The Opportunity

We're seeking a hands-on leader who takes pride in their craft and understands that a great workshop is built on great people. Reporting to the Mechanical Manager - Projects, you'll lead day-to-day workshop activities while remaining hands-on in fabrication - coordinating workflow, mentoring apprentices and tradespeople, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring every job leaves the workshop on time and to an exceptional standard.

You’ll lead from the front, not from behind a desk. As one of the first key appointments in our new workshop, you’ll have a genuine hand in shaping the culture, systems and standards that define it - building not only quality fabrication,



but the reputation of BRE's mechanical division for years to come.

Your role in focus:

- Lead daily workshop operations and coordinate fabrication activities.

- Manufacture high-quality stainless steel and mild steel fabrications.

- Carry out TIG and MIG welding to a professional standard.

- Read and interpret fabrication and engineering drawings.

- Plan workflow to maximise productivity and meet customer deadlines.

- Mentor apprentices and support the development of younger tradespeople.

- Ensure all work meets BRE's quality expectations.

- Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop.

- Work closely with Project Managers and Mechanical Supervisors.

- Identify opportunities to improve workshop efficiency and processes.

- Uphold BRE's values and culture every day.

About You

You're a trade-qualified boilermaker or fabricator with proven experience in industrial environments and the drive to step up as a leader. You're reliable, down-to-earth and hungry for responsibility, with the confidence to set the standard on the workshop floor and earn respect through your actions.

Essential:

- Trade qualification in Boiler Making or Sheet Metal Fabrication.

- Strong TIG and MIG welding experience.

- Experience fabricating stainless steel, including light-gauge stainless.

- Experience operating guillotines, press brakes and general fabrication equipment.

- Ability to read and fabricate directly from engineering drawings.

- Ability to work across a diverse range of jobs.

- Solid organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workflow.

- A positive attitude with excellent communication skills.

- A genuine commitment to workplace safety.

- Natural leadership qualities and the ability to earn respect through your actions.

Advantageous:

- Leadership experience as a Leading Hand or Supervisor (highly regarded,



but not essential for the right person).

- Background in food and beverage or pharmaceutical fabrication.

- Additional tickets such as confined space, EWP, forklift, or working at heights.
