Memorial Park Staff - Grounds, Maintenance & Cremator Operator

Leura Memorial Gardens is seeking a reliable, hands-on team member to join our Memorial Park staff. This is a varied full time role combining grounds and maintenance work with cremator operation duties, ideal for someone who takes pride in maintaining a respectful, well-presented facility and is comfortable working in a funeral services environment.

Please note: we also operate a funeral home on-site, so some crossover of duties between the memorial park and funeral home may be required from time to time. Participation in an after-hours on-call roster is an important part of this role.

Key Responsibilities

- Maintain gardens, lawns, and grounds to a high standard, including mowing, edging, planting, and general landscaping
- Carry out general maintenance and minor repairs across buildings, memorial gardens, and grounds equipment
- Operate cremation equipment in accordance with regulatory requirements and internal procedures, ensuring dignity and care at all times
- Maintain accurate cremation records in line with compliance obligations
- Support the setup and pack-down of services and memorialisation areas as required
- Assist with funeral home duties as required,



given the crossover between sites
- Participate in the after-hours on-call roster to support out-of-hours needs
- Liaise respectfully with families and funeral staff attending the grounds
- Ensure grounds, equipment, and facilities meet safety and presentation standards at all times

About You

- Experience in grounds maintenance, horticulture, or facilities/maintenance work
- Prior cremator operation experience highly regarded (training provided for the right candidate)
- A mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn technical equipment operation
- A calm, respectful, and compassionate manner, given the sensitive nature of the industry
- Physically capable of grounds and manual handling work
- Willingness and availability to participate in an after-hours roster
- A current driver's licence; forklift or other equipment tickets an advantage
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a small team
