About The Company

Our client strives to be an industry leader in branding, imaging and corporate identity. From concept to reality, they have completed some incredible projects with their clientele, and pride themselves on their ability to create and nurture long-lasting relationships with clients that grow alongside their brand — helping them become leaders of their markets. With quality values based on a strong foundation in traditional signwriting, they have developed into a energetic, turn-key fabrication and electronic signage solutions provider. Their passion is creating points of difference for clients using advanced techniques, technology and innovation, achieved through diverse competencies, extensive industry knowledge and their in-house team.

Purpose Of The Role

This is a rare opportunity for an experienced Senior Industrial Designer to join the Design team, managing and mentoring the existing design team while setting the standard for technical drafting, assembly drawings and production-ready files.

You’ll translate artistic concepts, architectural drawings and client briefs into highly detailed,

engineered production drawings — covering everything from large-scale external signage to complex 3D fabricated structures — while partnering closely with estimating, sales and the production floor to ensure every design is 100% buildable before it leaves your department.

Responsibilities

- Manage and mentor the existing designers, setting clear standards for technical drafting, assembly drawings and production-ready files.
- Translate artistic concepts, architectural drawings and client briefs into highly detailed, engineered production drawings.
- Resolve fixing details for large-scale external signs and complex 3D fabricated structures.
- Select and specify appropriate materials (metals, acrylics, composites, LEDs) and manufacturing processes (CNC routing, laser cutting, folding, welding) to optimise strength, cost and assembly speed.
- Develop and test prototypes for complex illuminated signs, new extrusion systems, or tricky mechanical interfaces.
- Partner closely with estimating, sales and the production floor to resolve manufacturing bottlenecks, value engineer designs, and ensure drawings are 100% buildable before they leave the department.

Why You’ll Love This Role

- Lead and shape a design department at an established industry leader
- Work across large-scale, technically complex signage and fabrication projects
- See your designs move from concept through to real,

manufactured outcomes
- Genuine ownership — set the technical standard for the team and the business
- Be part of a business built on relentless reliability and long-standing client relationships

Who We’re Looking For

- A practical problem solver with a hands-on mindset — comfortable on the factory floor consulting with fabricators to solve build issues on the fly
- A natural leader, confident managing and mentoring a small team of designers or drafters in a fast-paced environment
- Deep technical knowledge across fabrication and production processes
- Someone who takes ownership of design outcomes from concept through to buildable, production-ready output

Qualifications & Skills

- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in Industrial Design or Engineering, with a strong portfolio of successfully manufactured, complex physical products (custom sign manufacturing, architectural metalwork or heavy fabrication experience highly regarded)
- Expert-level proficiency in industry-standard CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, Inventor, Fusion 360 or Rhino) along with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator essential for sign-making vectors)
- Comprehensive understanding of sheet metal fabrication, structural steel, acrylic fabrication, CNC machining, vacuum forming, and LED/electrical integration
- Proven experience managing, mentoring or leading a small team of designers or drafters in a fast-paced environment
- A degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical/Structural Engineering, or equivalent deep industry experience
