Victorian Sports Group specialises in the construction and maintenance of natural grass and synthetic sporting surfaces. Based in Doreen, our team delivers sports facilities for local councils, schools, and sporting clubs across Melbourne and Regional Victoria.

We are looking for a Sports Turf Curator to join the team to support the preparation, maintenance, and presentation of high-quality sports turf surfaces. This is a hands-on role focused on delivering consistent turf performance, safety, and surface presentation across multiple sporting sites.

The Role

You will work as part of the turf maintenance team carrying out programmed and reactive maintenance to ensure playing surfaces meet performance and safety expectations year-round.

Key Responsibilities

Turf Maintenance & Surface Preparation

- Carry out mowing, irrigation, fertilising, line marking, topdressing, aeration, and pest and disease control
- Prepare and maintain sports surfaces including football, cricket, rugby, and athletics fields to competition standards
- Monitor turf condition, soil profile, and drainage performance, reporting issues as required
- Assist with pitch and surface preparation for games, training, and events
- Apply best-practice turf techniques to maintain durable, high-use surfaces

Machinery & Equipment

- Operate turf machinery including mowers, rollers, tractors, line markers, and aerators safely and efficiently
- Conduct routine equipment checks and basic maintenance
- Assist with irrigation system checks, adjustments, and minor repairs

Site Standards & Compliance

- Maintain clean, safe,



and professional worksites
- Follow safe work procedures and chemical handling requirements
- Record chemical applications and maintenance activities as requiredSupport environmentally responsible turf management practices

Team Contribution

- Work collaboratively with other turf staff and project teams
- Follow work schedules and daily task allocations
- Contribute to efficient site operations and high presentation standards

About You

Qualifications & Experience

- Certificate III in Sports Turf Management (or working towards)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in sports turf or grounds maintenance
- Practical knowledge of turf care, irrigation systems, and machinery operation
- Chemical handling certification (ACUP or equivalent or willingness to acquire same)
- Construction White Card
- Current Medium Rigid (MR) driver's licence
