About the role

This is a full-time, workshop-based position with opportunities to support site installation activities when required. The successful candidate will work from engineering drawings and fabrication details to produce accurate, high-quality steelwork safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

- Fabricate, assemble and weld structural steel frames, supports, brackets and building components.
- Complete MIG welding and, where required, stick or TIG welding to an acceptable quality standard.
- Perform cutting, grinding, drilling, measuring, marking-out, fitting and finishing activities.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, shop drawings, fabrication details and specifications.
- Check dimensions, squareness, alignment, fit-up and weld quality before work is released.
- Use workshop tools and equipment safely, including welders, grinders, drills, saws and lifting equipment.
- Identify material or drawing issues early and communicate them to the supervisor or project team.




- Maintain a clean and organised work area and comply with WIBS WHS and quality procedures.

Skills and experience

- Trade qualification in Engineering - Fabrication Trade (Boilermaking) or equivalent is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in structural steel fabrication, welding and workshop assembly.
- Ability to interpret drawings and work accurately from dimensions and tolerances.
- Sound knowledge of safe welding, hot-work, manual-handling and workshop practices.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in producing neat, compliant work.
- Reliable attendance, good communication and the ability to work productively in a team.
- Current Australian working rights are essential.
- Construction White Card, forklift licence, EWP ticket or dogging/rigging experience will be viewed favourably.
