About the role
This position works alongside the Financial Controller to oversee all aspects of financial compliance and reporting at Redgate. As the organization continues its growth trajectory, you will play a central role in maintaining accurate financial statements while strengthening internal control frameworks. The opportunity is structured as a twelve-month fixed-term arrangement designed to provide maternity cover, offering meaningful exposure to group-level financial operations within a well-established software company.

What you'll do
- Act as the go-to expert for technical accounting questions across the business, providing guidance that aligns with current best practices and regulatory standards.
- Partner with the Financial Operations department, Financial Controller, and Financial Planning and Analysis teams to develop comprehensive understanding of group reporting structures and external audit requirements.
- Take ownership of critical monthly reconciliation processes, ensuring all documentation meets control standards while actively seeking opportunities to streamline and enhance existing finance procedures.
- Prepare consolidated financial reports across multiple entities on a monthly basis, including detailed cash flow statements that comply fully with FRS 102 accounting standards.
- Contribute to month-end closing procedures, addressing queries related to revenue recognition and ensuring timely completion of all reporting deadlines.
- Review and analyze balance sheet positions across the group, investigating variances and providing clear explanations for any discrepancies identified during the reconciliation process.
- Support the preparation of statutory accounts and assist with annual audit processes, liaising with external auditors to provide requested documentation and explanations.
- Maintain and update financial control documentation, ensuring all processes are properly recorded and accessible for review by relevant stakeholders.
- Identify and implement process improvements within the finance function, leveraging technology and automation where appropriate to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Assist with ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting requests from senior leadership, providing insights that support strategic decision‑making across the organization.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations, flagging potential issues to the Financial Controller and recommending appropriate corrective actions.
- Contribute to the development of junior team members by sharing knowledge and providing guidance on technical accounting matters when required.
Requirements
- Hold a recognized professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, or CIMA certification, demonstrating commitment to the profession and technical competence.
- Possess thorough knowledge of relevant financial regulations including the Companies Act 2006, FRS 102 reporting standards, and International Financial Reporting Standards where applicable.
- Bring hands‑on experience producing monthly management accounts, encompassing profit and loss statements, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate complex financial information in accessible terms to colleagues without finance backgrounds, fostering productive cross‑functional relationships.
- Show capability to exercise sound judgment when facing ambiguous situations, making well‑reasoned decisions while managing competing priorities effectively.
- Exhibit strong attention to detail combined with an analytical mindset, comfortable operating both autonomously and as part of a collaborative team environment.
- Display excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously without compromising on quality or accuracy.
- Present evidence of continuous professional development and staying current with changes in accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
