Cobra is part of a consortium including Acciona and Endeavour Energy who have been successful in securing a contract with EnergyCo to design, build, own and operate the first Current South Wales Renewable Energy Zone, Central West Orana. The project covers an area of 20,000 sq kms. It will initially entail the deployment of 4.5GW of transmitted electricity, powering 1.8 million homes, which will grow to 6GW by 2038. The project includes 90 kilometres of 500kV transmission lines and 150 kilometres of 330kV transmission lines to connect several renewable energy generation facilities to the grid.

Key Responsibilities:

The Linesperson is responsible for skilled installation, repair and maintenance of overhead and underground power networks in accordance with project and team goals. This role requires technical capability, a robust safety record, and the ability to work across a variety of structure types and voltages, including up to 500kV.



This includes but not limited to:

- Assist in setup and operation of winches, tensioners and drum stands.
- Install pulley blocks, insulator strings and draw wires on towers and monopoles.
- Operate under supervision to string, sag and clamp conductors and OPGW/OHEW.
- Support installation of protection crossings over roads, railways and powerlines.
- Follow and maintain synchronised communication between puller and tensioner teams.
- Perform QA, housekeeping and safety inspections at stringing pads.
- Ensure WHS, electrical-safe and exclusion-zone procedures are followed.
- Install and clamp conductors, OPGW and OHEW across spans.
- Perform mechanical splicing, compression fittings and jumper bridges.
- Participate in sagging, alignment and QA verification with surveying teams.
- Install vibration dampers, spacers, and bird diverters.
- Lead or operate within stringing and tensioning crews to maintain safe and synchronised operations.
- Complete pre-start, JHA, and QA documentation.
- Work at heights via EWP >11m or manual climbing with harness systems.
- Study and interpret technical drawings, network line diagrams and maps.
- Install, maintain and repair overhead conductors and underground cables, as well as associated hardware, fittings and equipment to ensure system reliability.
- Operate plant and equipment associated with installation and maintenance of transmission networks.




- Work on various structure types for transmission lines at voltages up to 500kV.
- Climb poles and towers, or operate and work in elevated work platforms (EWP).
- Install and repair towers, poles, cables, and related electrical equipment for overhead transmission systems.

- AQF Certificate III in ESI Transmission Overhead (or equivalent) OR a minimum of three (3) years' relevant full-time experience in transmission line construction, utilities, or electrical distribution.
- Experience in overhead and underground line installation, repair, and maintenance.
- Demonstrated experience in tower erection, structural steel or heavy rigging.
- Working at Heights and Tower Rescue certification.
- Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors at height.
- Demonstrated strong safety record and knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety.
- High Risk Work Licenses: EWP, Rigging, Tower Rescue.

Highly Regarded:

- Basic or Advanced Rigging (RB/RI) High-Risk Work Licence.
- Dogging (DG) or EWP (WP >11m) license.
- Transmission Line towers assembly & erection experience.
- Knowledge of cable back-stay and anchoring systems.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- CPR Certificate and Senior First Aid (desirable).

Rosters

Rosters will vary depending on project requirements. Candidates should be willing to work on swing-style roster arrangements that may include extended periods on site followed by periods of leave.
