Practice Group Summary

- Sustainability services help companies solve corporate challenges around regulatory resilience, climate transition planning, and digital transformation in the context of rapidly changing and evolving investor and stakeholder ESG expectations and regulations.

The Chance

Sustainability risks and opportunities now drive business strategy and value creation. Multinational companies face complex regulations, conflicting stakeholder demands, and competing priorities. One misstep can rapidly impact shareholders, governance, reputation, and customers. Increasingly, companies hire consultancies to guide them through these challenges and focus on long‑term sustainable value.

Given this opportunity, Sodali & Co is looking for an experienced Director , APAC, Sustainability Lead, to help lead and grow the Australia region of the Global Sustainability Practice. This is a hybrid role with the expectation of being in our Sydney office at least 3 days/week to support the team with mentorship, deliverable feedback, and training, liaise with colleagues from other practices and departments, and meet with clients and partners. A modest amount of travel for client work, conferences/events, and firm leadership meetings may be required.





Key Responsibilities

- Provide leadership for the practice’s Sydney office whilst also leading complex client engagements covering a multitude of sustainability and climate services
- Lead and contribute to the Sustainability Practice’s thought leadership platform to enhance position and reputation with clients and their stakeholders
- Execute and manage sustainability business development campaigns and contribute to global BD campaigns, included for integrated solutions across practices (e.g., shareholder advisory, strategic communications advisory)
- Present deliverables and provide advisement to C-Suite level executives and corporate Boards with confidence and authority
- Review and provide feedback on project team’s research and draft deliverables to maintain high quality outputs and advisement to clients
- Contribute to winning new business by taking a leading role in key pitches while mentoring team members to successfully lead other pitches
- Build, maintain, and expand our partner network (software, assurance, legal counsel, investors) in Australia to drive client referrals, expanded capabilities, and the tools and resources necessary for practice and market growth
- Lead development and maintenance of a key service area or practice capability, including pitch materials, project delivery tools and templates, and team training
- Serve as people mentor, coach and sounding board for a small, but growing team and champion the development of a positive team culture
- Collaborate with the Sustainability Practice’s Senior Leadership Team to set and deliver on the practice strategy

Successful Candidates Would

- Understand sustainability/ESG and climate accounting, management, and disclosure standards and regulatory frameworks such as, GRI, TCFD, ISSB’s IFRS S1 and S2, SASB, SBTi, EU Taxonomy, SFDR, CA SB 253, CA SB 261, and/or EU CSRD




- Apply leading sustainability and climate reporting frameworks and standards relevant to Australian and global contexts (e.g. ISSB‑aligned standards, TCFD, SASB, and related frameworks)
- Analyse, prepare responses, and/or advise on ESG ratings providers and assessments such as ISS, MSCI, Sustainalytics, CDP, EcoVadis, S&P; CSA, and/or GRESB.
- Communicate and present credibly to individuals at the C-Suite and/or Board level for large, listed companies in Australia
- Maintain awareness of evolving sustainability, regulatory, and investor expectations in Australia and internationally (including the EU and US), and how these developments shape corporate strategy and disclosure
- Demonstrate creative problem-solving to client and team matters at all levels; offer excellent proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel skills Excel to support analysis, storytelling, and client decision‑making
- Collaborate effectively across levels in team and across other practices at firm
- Lead team through change, transformation, and scaling in a rapidly growing organisation

Role Requirements

- Bachelor's degree required
- 6+ years of relevant professional experience
- Experience managing direct report(s) highly preferred
- Experience presenting to C-Suite and/or Board level individuals for large organizations
- Be comfortable working in fast-paced, evolving environments where priorities may shift
- Demonstrate strategic, creative, and commercial thinking with a strong bias for yes and execution
- Comfortable working outside typical business hours to accommodate time zones across a global team
- Travel required, frequency of which can change based on project or client demands
