Our client, a leading national law firm, is seeking anAssociate or Senior Associateto join its growingCommonwealth Government Corporate & Commercialpractice in Canberra.
This is an exceptional prospect to advise Australian Government agencies on significant procurement, contracting, and major project matters.
You'll work on high-profile government programs spanning capability acquisition, ICT, and complex commercial arrangements, while gaining direct client exposure and working alongside experienced practitioners in a cooperative and supportive team.

The Role
Advise Australian Government agencies on major projects, procurement, and commercial transactions.




Provide legal support throughout the procurement lifecycle, from market approach and tender processes through to contract negotiation, execution, and ongoing contract management.
Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including ICT, goods, and services contracts.
Advise on contract law, commercial risk, governance, and procurement strategy.
Work collaboratively with clients and colleagues to deliver practical, commercially focused legal solutions.
Build strong client relationships while supporting significant government programs and strategic initiatives.
Ideal Candidate
2–5 years' post-admission experience in commercial, government, procurement, projects, or ICT law.
Experience advising on commercial contracts, procurement, or major projects will be highly regarded.
A strong interest in Australian Government transactions and public sector work.
Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
Commercially minded with strong organisational and stakeholder management abilities.
Ability and willingness to obtain an AGSVA Baseline Security Clearance (or currently hold one).
