As we enter an exciting growth phase, we are looking for a Senior Accountant and Team Leader who thrives on building trusted client relationships, leading a team, and delivering outstanding compliance and advisory outcomes.
This is a client-facing leadership role at the heart of our practice. You will own key client relationships, chair regular client meetings, review team output for quality and accuracy, and mentor junior staff - all while working closely with our partners on complex matters.
Client Relationships & Meetings
- Serve as the senior point of contact for a portfolio of key clients - individuals, companies, and trusts
- Lead and conduct regular tax planning meetings, delivering clear, practical advice on tax efficiency strategies
- Build and maintain trusted, long-term client relationships with a focus on responsiveness and professional service
- Liaise professionally with the ATO, clients, and other external bodies on compliance and advisory matters
- Advise clients on accounting systems and record-keeping to support better business outcomes
- Lead, mentor, and support junior team members day-to-day, setting a high standard for technical accuracy and client service
- Review work prepared by team members - including tax returns, BAS, FBT returns, and financial reports - ensuring quality and timeliness before lodgement or client delivery
- Provide constructive guidance and real-time coaching to develop team capability and build confidence
- Manage workflow across the team, allocating work effectively and monitoring priorities and deadlines
- Work closely with partners on complex matters, practice management priorities, and client advisory work
Technical & Compliance
- Prepare and review tax returns for individuals, companies, and trusts
- Manage client compliance matters end-to-end, including BAS, FBT returns, and financial reports
- Assist clients with cash flow forecasting and annual budgets
- Participate in ongoing career development and internal training sessions
About You
- Minimum 5 years' experience in public practice - tax preparation for individuals, companies, and trusts
- Demonstrated experience managing client relationships and leading or reviewing team work
- Strong understanding of Australian tax law, tax planning strategies, and compliance requirements
- Excellent communication skills with the confidence to chair client meetings and present advice clearly
- Proficient in MYOB AE, MYOB, Xero, and/or Intuit (or similar platforms)
- Experience preparing BAS, FBT returns, cash flow forecasts, and financial reports
- Highly organised, with strong ability to manage competing deadlines across a client portfolio
- CA/CPA qualified or actively working towards completion (preferred)
Why Join Us
- A senior role with real leadership scope - you will own client relationships and shape team quality from day one
- Direct access to partners and exposure to a broad, complex client base built over 20 years
- Supportive, close-knit team where your contribution is visible and valued
- Flexible, collaborative, and friendly working environment
If you are ready to step into a senior role where client relationships and team leadership are at the core - we would love to hear from you.
