Process Superintendent - Aluminium Electrolysis Department

We're looking for an experienced Process Superintendent to join our Electrolysis team. This is an exciting opportunity for a technical leader who is passionate about process optimisation, operational excellence and developing high-performing teams.
Located just 30 minutes from Newcastle CBD, you'll join a team-oriented leadership team and play a key role in improving product quality, reducing waste, enhancing yield and driving long-term business performance.
About the Role
Reporting to the Manager – Electrolysis , you'll provide technical leadership and strategic direction across the department, ensuring safe, efficient and reliable operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and developing a team of Process Engineers and technical specialists
- Driving process performance, product quality, yield improvement and waste reduction initiatives
- Embedding robust data collection, process monitoring and variation analysis into daily operations
- Partnering with Production, Maintenance and Quality teams to deliver operational targets
- Identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities that enhance safety, quality and cost performance
- Supporting strategic decision-making through data-driven analysis and forecasting
- Managing departmental budgets, performance reporting and operational planning
- Developing and maintaining key process KPIs and ensuring clear communication of performance outcomes
- Facilitating risk management activities and supporting compliance with WHS and environmental requirements
- Coaching and mentoring engineers, graduates and operational personnel to build capability across the business
About You
You'll be a motivated and influential leader who can combine strong technical expertise with a collaborative and people-focused approach.
To be successful, you'll have:
- Degree qualifications in Engineering (Metallurgical, Chemical, Materials, Mechanical or similar)
- Significant experience in aluminium manufacturing, including Carbon, Casting, Electrolysis or related metallurgical processes
- Demonstrated leadership experience within a heavy industrial, manufacturing or process environment
- A strong commitment to safety leadership and building a positive safety culture
- Experience driving process optimisation, continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Experience managing budgets, forecasting and performance reporting
- Proven ability to coach, develop and influence people across a range of technical and operational roles
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
