Job Description
About the Position This position organises, controls and coordinates the strategic and operational management of horticulture facilities to ensure efficient physical operations and protected, productive environments for staff and facility users. Occupation Tasks
- Manage the shed floor on a day-to-day basis.
- Ensure all cool rooms are operating correctly.
- Ensure all produce is packed to specifications efficiently and without compromising quality.
- Ensure the logistics supervisor has product available in a timely fashion and to the required quality standard so product can be delivered in full and on time.
- Lead a team of staff who manage the packing shed floor efficiently.
- Maintain a high standard of work practices at all times.
- Liaise with the post-harvest operations manager to predetermine daily and weekly objectives.
- Assist the post-harvest operations manager in supervising staff engaged in quality control, residue limit monitoring and protocol requirements for all markets, especially export markets.
- Liaise with grower services teams and farm managers to ensure smooth delivery of fresh produce for packing.
- Ensure protocol and MRL requirements advised by technical services, and customer requirements set by marketing, are implemented in the packing and logistics process, especially traceability, labelling and documentation.
- Supervise quality control of produce being packed to ensure it meets packing instruction requirements.
- Assist to oversee procurement of temporary labour, consumables, freight and other services required to move produce from farms through the supply chain to customers.
- Operate traceability management systems and processes to ensure the shed floor is run cost effectively without compromising quality output, and recommend improvements where required.
- Assist in developing plans for refurbishment, maintenance and continuous improvement of facility assets.
- Assist in managing relationships with external service providers, growers and other stakeholders.
- Provide input into project cost analysis and budget preparation.
- Follow Occupational Health and Safety policies/procedures and help ensure packing shed staff comply with occupational health and safety and quality assurance requirements.
- Assist in completing quality system documentation.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications The following requirements are reproduced from the position Job Description:
- relevant AQF Certificate III or Certificate IV qualifications or equivalent; or
- 3 years employment experience as a Facility Plant Manager with relevant formal training; or
- 5 years employment experience as a Facility Plant Manager with no formal training.
Market Salary $72,000- $80,000 per annum plus superannuation
