TOURISM OFFICER
Located approximately 550km south-west of Cairns and just south of the base of the Gulf of Carpentaria, in the heart of the Gulf Savannah country, lies the quaint and beautiful town of Croydon. Rich in history, boasting beautiful heritage buildings, the iconicGulflandertrain, stunning sunsets andnumeroustrails for birdwatching, bushwalking, mountainbikingand trail running. Croydon offers a unique Outback experience while providing all the necessary services, including asupermarket, healthcare centre, schooling, and recreational facilities.
The Position:The Tourism Officers play a key role in promoting Croydon Shire as a tourism destination while delivering exceptional customer service to visitors. Based at the True Blue Visitor Information Centre and Heritage Precinct, the position supports tourism operations, events, marketing initiatives, social media, and visitor engagement activities. The role assists with developing promotional materials, maintaining tourism records, supporting heritage attractions, and contributing to tourism growth. Working closely with the community and visitors, the Tourism Officers help enhance Croydon’s economy, reputation, and visitor experience. We are seeking an enthusiastic,
proactive and customer-focused individual who is passionate about tourism and committed to always representing Croydon Shire professionally and positively.
Skills / Experience Required:
- Demonstrated commitment to tourism and promoting Croydon Shire as a welcoming visitor destination.
- High level customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with visitors, residents and stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a professional and friendly manner.
- Strong organisational, time management and administrative skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Excel, Outlook and other business applications.
- Experience or demonstrated capability in social media management, photography, videography and digital content creation.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision while contributing positively to a team setting.
- Relevant qualifications or experience in Tourism, Marketing, Event Management, Business Administration or a related field are highly regarded.
