That investment wasn't simply about moving infrastructure into Azure. It was about giving the business the agility to deliver projects faster, adopt emerging technologies such as AI, reduce reliance on traditional infrastructure and respond more quickly as priorities evolve.

With those foundations now in place, the focus has shifted from migration to optimisation and strengthening the engineering capability behind the platform.

The Head of Cloud is now looking to appoint a senior Principal Engineer who will become his technical right hand, helping drive the next evolution of the platform, raising engineering standards and supporting the organisation's next phase of growth.

The Opportunity

You'll help shape the engineering decisions that continue to evolve the platform while remaining deeply involved in its design and delivery.

You'll work across Azure architecture, Infrastructure as Code, automation, DevOps and up-to-date cloud engineering, leading the technical design and delivery of major initiatives while continually improving engineering practices across the team.

One week you may be reviewing architecture for a major business initiative. The next could involve developing Terraform modules, improving CI/CD pipelines or partnering with project teams to deliver new cloud capabilities.

This opportunity is likely to suit an experienced Microsoft cloud engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems and is looking for greater influence over the direction of the platforms they build.

You'll have a track record of owning the architecture, technical design and delivery of significant cloud initiatives, taking accountability for outcomes rather than simply contributing to them.

You'll also enjoy improving the way engineering teams work through stronger automation, modern engineering practices and better technical standards.

Just as importantly, you'll approach technical challenges methodically, using data to understand problems, evaluate different options and make sound engineering decisions.

You'll be naturally curious, enjoy learning, stay across emerging technologies and be motivated by continually finding better ways to engineer solutions.

- Sydney location
- $190,000 - $200,000 base salary + superannuation
- Flexible working arrangements agreed on an individual basis
