Rheinmetall NIOA Munitions Pty Ltd (RNM), a joint venture between Rheinmetall Waffe Munitions and NIOA Pty Ltd has established a state of the art forging and manufacturing facility in Maryborough QLD that produces artillery shell cases and other munitions-related products for supply to the defence industry.

What are we looking for?

As Compliance & Security Specialist, you are responsible for ensuring that RNM operates within all legal, regulatory compliance standards and internal documentation framework whilst maintaining compliance programs (especially DISP) and safeguarding organisational integrity through governance and risk management. You will also co-ordinate international import and export ensuring all activities meet legislative requirements.

Key Accountabilities

- Develop, implement and oversee compliance programs and policies to ensure the company’s operations meet
- the legal requirements including but not limited to DISP accreditation and ITAR/EAR and Defence Export
- Controls (DEC) requirements.
- Be accountable for coordinating the overall DISP implementation and execute specifically the implementation of adequate security governance, physical and personnel security in line with DISP requirements.
- Take full responsibility for RNM’s documentation of compliance with RNM, national/international and related entity requirements including creation, review and update of manuals and instructions.
- Conduct regular compliance audits and risk assessments to identify areas of non-compliance and/or potential risks and implement actions for mitigation. Maintain the company security register.
- Collaborate with leaders and team members on all related company documentation.
- Facilitate compliance and security training programs.




- Collaborate with legal and regulatory experts to interpret and address compliance issues including security ITAR, Identify and implement all required import and export licencing, permits and certificate requirements for existing and new products.
- Be accountable for compliance for import and export functions including communication with the relevant regulatory bodies to maintain RNM supply requirements.
- Coordinate international exporting and importing ensuring all activities meet legislative requirements.
- Support other related activities (e.g. logistics) and perform further duties as required by the Finance Manager.
- Provide advice and compliance updates and reporting to the management team and other stakeholders as required (e.g. Rheinmetall AG)
- Work efficiently within overall shareholder group compliance organisation (Rheinmetall and NIOA), handling reporting, exchange of information and answering request as the key interface to shareholder group contacts.
- Ongoing process definition, process improvement and process documentation to support the continuous improvement culture and meet changing regulations and industry best practices.
- Leads and promotes ethical practices and compliance-first culture.
- Maintain knowledge on relevant laws and regulations relevant to our industry including security, import and export licensing, accreditation and government regulations and requirements of our products.
- Be accountable for RNM’s ESG, ETICOR and other social and legislative requirements including reporting within shareholder group and promote improvement initiatives.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience

- Degree or Diploma in business, law or security & risk management (preferred)
- Intermediate to advanced industry experience with security, governance or compliance
- Knowledge or ability to acquire ITAR/DISP/DEC & import/export permits & Security Officer certification
- Obtain and maintain NV1 Security Clearance,



or level as prescribed by DISP membership & RNM SPPs
- Explosives security clearance licence or ability to acquire and maintain
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in similar role complying with relevant people, safety, quality, security and environmental standards
- High interpersonal skills with above average conflict resolution skills
- Familiarity and working knowledge of legal terms, contracts, international import/export processes
- Advanced knowledge and experience with MS Office suite and ERP (SAP)

Additional Requirements

- Fit to work in munitions manufacturing environment.
- Physical requirements to sit, stand, walk, use hands and reach with arms, talk and hear, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or manoeuvre awkward and/or heavy items using aids.
- Resilience and ability to work varied hours as required to achieve desired outcomes, including first point of contact for contracted security personnel.
- Police/security screening checks and permanent right to work in Australia.
- Obtain and/or maintain NV1 security clearance.
