About the role:

In this role, you’ll play a vital part in empowering young mob by helping deliver our NSW High School Program and strengthening relationships with schools and community partners. Through meaningful connections with students, families and school communities, you’ll open doors to educational opportunities, provide pathways to support, and create access to powerful cultural immersion camps and enriching day experiences that strengthen cultural identity, build confidence, and inspire future pathways.

Key responsibilities:

Community Engagement

Establish and maintain relationships with program stakeholders including students, their families and schools, particularly in relation to academic supports and camp attendance and engagement.

Implement engagement schedules as directed by the Delivery Manager

Support the delivery of camps and enrichment days

Contribute towards continuous improvement and recommendations to enhance activities, where necessary.

Escalate early markers of student dis‑engagement with the relevant staff member/s

Record all stakeholder contact in Dynamics within allocated deadlines.

Student Onboarding

Support the onboarding process by liaising with students, families and schools to complete the necessary onboarding paperwork and provide an introduction to the program as guided by the Delivery Manager.

Work with individual students, families and schools to understand their academic and social support requirements.

Support students to access their Aurora Support Plan funding, arranging for the purchase of key academic tools, equipment and resources in line with cultural, academic and social and wellbeing goals.

Consult with the Tutoring Leader on a regular basis to ensure appropriate tutoring support and understand its impact on students’ academic improvement.

Manage academic support spending for student cohorts in line with annual budget.

Escalate to the Delivery Manager when a student needs a referral to additional support services. Assist with the implementation of the referral/s.

Identify students at risk of disengagement with the program and consult relevant team members to support and re‑engage.

Cultural Camps and Engagement Days





Support the team to cultivate a strong, values‑led culture that consistently delivers positive program outcomes across NSW.

Participate in the delivery of Cultural Enrichment Camps and Days (up to 6 multiday camps per year and up to 12 engagement days per year).

Support facilitators with life skill sessions with students at camps and engagements, as required.

Support the Learning and Events Leader in planning the logistics of each camp, as required.

Support the delivery of engagement days and camps by providing safe environments, student supervision and escalating concerns or needs to the relevant Manager and/or Leads

Participate in post‑camp evaluations and contribute to continuous improvement.

Cultural Safety

Comply with cultural safety principles about overcoming the cultural power imbalances of places, people and policies to contribute to improvements in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education.

This includes:

Continuously growing and applying understandings of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islandercultures;

Actively reflecting critically on the potential for one’s own unconsciousbias;

Continuously supporting reform (internally and externally) to ensure procedures, processes and program practices are culturally safe.

Child Safety / Working with Vulnerable People

Maintain the National Child Safety, Code of Conduct and Procedure.

Work with internal staff and external advisors to provide internal training and advice on child safety matters.

Role model the requiredbehavioursincluding:

Providing a welcoming and safe environment for children and young people.

Promoting the safety and well‑being of children and young people associated with the program.

Interacting with children and young people in ways that are positive and safe.

If required, provide adequate care and supervision of children and young people associated with the program.

Acting as a positive role model for children and young people.

Report to an appropriate person any suspicions, concerns, allegations or disclosures of alleged abuse against children and young people.

Manage reports of any suspicions, concerns, allegations or disclosures of alleged abuse against children and young people.

Experience

A demonstrated understanding of Indigenous histories, cultures, organisations and the issues facing Indigenous people in Australia meeting their aspirations for their communities and families.Provide regular reporting as required.

Well‑developed written communication capabilities.

Ability to balance taking direction and exercising initiative.

Experience in the community and/or educational sector

Tertiary qualifications in community services and social work highly regarded

Prior experience working with indigenous youth

Strong MS Suite, SharePoint and Dynamics or similar CRM skills

Planning, project management, and implementation skills

Stakeholder engagement and management

Strong communication with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples
