The Unit currently has four Physicians with specialties including Gastroenterology, Oncology, Geriatrics, Cardiology and General Medicine. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in General Medicine cover, the on-call roster
The Base Hospital provides public hospital services on behalf of the Victorian Government to the Community of Mildura and the Sunraysia District.
The hospital provides a range of Acute Services including Emergency, Maternity, Intensive Care, General Medicine and Surgery, Medical Imaging, Pathology, Dialysis, Mental Health (Inpatient and community services) and a range of Ambulatory Services
The location is North West Victoria on the Murray River approximately 600 kms from Melbourne and 380 kms from Adelaide.
The population of the town and surrounding district (Sunraysia) is approximately 80,000.
The Staff Specialist Physician role requires participation in the acute and general care medicine on-call roster.
Key responsibilities of the role include review of medical patients presenting to the emergency department, inpatient care and outpatient clinics. Liaison with colleagues in General Medicine and other hospital Staff Specialists for collaboration on patient care is an essential facet of this role, as well as participation in departmental meetings and reviews as required. MBPH is a teaching hospital and the role provides leadership and teaching for Doctors in Training and medical students.

Qualifications:
- FRACP;
- Current registration with the Medical Board of Australia;
- Demonstrated clinical ability commensurate with that of a Specialist Physician in a public hospital and VMO in a private hospital.
Desirable:
- Sub-specialty qualification - Acute and General Care Medicine
- Qualifications and/or experience in clinical education and training.
