Your first Occupational Therapy role should provide the time, structure and support you need to develop as a clinician - not expect you to know everything from day one.

Life Skills Hub is seeking a graduating Occupational Therapist to join our 2027 New Graduate Occupational Therapy Program .

Our 12-month program has been designed by Occupational Therapists, for Occupational Therapists, to support new graduates to build strong clinical foundations, develop their professional identity and transition gradually into independent practice.

You will be supported by experienced Occupational Therapists, primary and secondary supervisors, other new graduate clinicians and our broader multidisciplinary team.

For students who would like to begin sooner, there may also be an opportunity to commence as an Allied Health Assistant during 2026 , before transitioning into the Occupational Therapist position once your degree and AHPRA registration are complete.

About Life Skills Hub

Life Skills Hub is a multidisciplinary allied health service in Adelaide’s northern suburbs, supporting children, adolescents and young adults to build independence, participate in meaningful activities and develop genuine social connections.

We were created in response to a gap between traditional therapy services and what young people realistically needed as they grew older.

Our clinic has been designed to bridge the gap between therapy and everyday life. Rather than working only from traditional consulting rooms, our clinicians can use kitchens, outdoor spaces, gardens, movement areas and comfortable home-style environments to support meaningful and practical therapy.

School and community-based services

Therapeutic and social groups, including cooking, craft, Minecraft, Dungeons and Dragons, puberty education and high school transition programs

You will work alongside Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, Dietitians, Allied Health Assistants, Mentors and our administration and leadership teams.

About the role

As a New Graduate Occupational Therapist, you will support children, adolescents and young adults across a mixture of clinic, school and community environments.

You will begin with structured onboarding, observation and shadowing before gradually progressing towards joint sessions, supported assessments and increasingly independent clinical work.

Your caseload will build gradually over approximately your first six months, with the pace tailored to your learning, confidence and support needs.

Your role will progressively include:

Providing Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention

Supporting young people with participation, independence and everyday life skills

Developing practical, strengths-based and goal-directed interventions

Facilitating therapeutic and structured group programs

Completing clinical documentation, therapy plans and progress reports





Collaborating with caregivers, schools and other professionals

Participating in clinical supervision, reflective practice and professional development

Reviewing client outcomes and adapting your approach where needed

You will not be expected to arrive with all the answers or a fully developed clinical style. Asking questions, seeking support and learning from different clinicians are expected parts of the program.

Your New Graduate Program

Our structured 12-month program supports you to move gradually from university into independent clinical practice.

You will begin with comprehensive onboarding, observation and shadowing before progressively building your caseload and clinical responsibilities.

Across the program, you will develop your skills in:

Clinical reasoning, assessment, goal setting and intervention planning

Neurodiversity-affirming, trauma-informed and strengths-based practice

Sensory processing and emotional regulation

Executive functioning, routines and participation

Activities of daily living and practical life skills

Cooking, toileting and community participation

Fine and gross motor development

Handwriting and school participation

Social connection and group-based intervention

Documentation, caseload management and professional communication

Working collaboratively with caregivers, schools and multidisciplinary teams

The program is designed to build both your clinical competence and your professional identity.

As your confidence develops, you will gradually take on more complex work while continuing to receive regular supervision, protected learning time and access to experienced clinicians.

Supervision and support

You will receive:

Weekly individual clinical supervision

A primary and secondary supervisor

Regular New Graduate OT group supervision

Shadowing opportunities across the OT and multi-D teams

Monthly discipline-specific meetings

Monthly multidisciplinary reflective practice

Access to Team Leaders and senior clinicians for questions and shared problem-solving

Additional support when clinical or workload challenges arise

We understand that starting your first clinical role can bring a combination of excitement, uncertainty and information overload.

Our program includes:

A caseload developed gradually over approximately six months

Caseload progression tailored to your learning and confidence

Approximately 1.5–2 hours of scheduled administration time each day, with support from an admin team for scheduling and bookings.

Time to observe, practise and consolidate new skills

Support with documentation,



time management and caseload organisation

Structured learning focused on clinical and professional development

The successful applicant may have the opportunity to commence with Life Skills Hub as an Allied Health Assistant during 2026.

This would allow you to:

Become familiar with our team, clients and clinical environments

Learn our systems and service model

Support individual and group programs under clinician direction

Observe different therapeutic styles and approaches

Build practical experience before beginning your Occupational Therapy role

Transition into the 2027 program with established relationships and organisational knowledge

Transition into the Occupational Therapist role would occur following completion of your approved Occupational Therapy qualification and AHPRA registration.

By the commencement of the Occupational Therapist position, you will require:

An approved qualification in Occupational Therapy

Current or eligible registration with AHPRA

A current Working with Children Check

A current First Aid Certificate, including CPR

Completion of Through Their Eyes training or an accepted equivalent

Eligibility to obtain relevant Medicare provider numbers

A current driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle

The ability to travel to school and community appointments when required

Final-year Occupational Therapy students are encouraged to apply before completing their degree.
