About the Role

The Production Manager plans, organises, directs, and coordinates the production activities in the processing facility. This includes the safe and efficient operation of the factory, the wellbeing of staff, assisting with factory development, ensuring repairs and maintenance issues are recorded and addressed and compliance with external and internal regulations and directives.

The Production Manager works in close collaboration with the Quality Manager and their team to support the shared aims of high-quality production and maximum customer satisfaction.

This role liaises with the Maintenance Manager and Logistics Manager and reports to the Head of Processing Operations Macadamias. Direct reports to this role include Production Coordinators and Team Leaders.

Duties include but not limited to:

- Oversee and manage production planning and execution of production activities and processes to enable on time delivery of goods whilst maximising production efficiencies and crop and labour utilisation
- Monitor and report key metrics as set by the company
- Ensure adequate resourcing levels are provided to match required production targets including people, packaging and consumables
- Develop and adhere to production schedules to meet targets
- Develop processes that allow for accurate forecasting of future production targets
- Schedule and control offsite processing
- Ensure that all quality, safety and operational reporting is provided in the correct format and in the required time and ensure that all follow up action are completed in a timely manner
- Work with the factory team to minimise product loss




- Assist the Head of Processing Operations to determine production line design and layout plans that take into consideration workflow, productivity and logistics of parts and materials that will not compromise employee safety
- Lead the development of systems and processes
- Work with the maintenance team to manage equipment maintenance and breakdowns to minimise downtime
- Constantly evaluate work practices in regard to health and safety and immediately report any unsafe practice or equipment and not carry out any practices or operate any equipment until it is secure to do so.
- Maintain a high standard of product quality
- Maintain KPI expectations set down by management and follow the schedule set by the Head of Operations
- Work closely with all staff and other departmental supervisors/managers as needed
- Maintain accurate and up to date safe work procedures and ensure staff have been trained before starting a new job
- Effectively over lay current Quality and Safety requirements with processing requirements
- Provide training to staff
- Communicate actively with staff and other managers to optimise operational effectiveness, build team harmony and support staff welfare
- Ensure that production coordinators are provided with the information and support that they require to effectively carry out the tasks required of them
- Supervise staff and report any issues to the Head of Operations

Essential Criteria, Skills and Experience

- Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar type role in the food manufacturing industry
- Demonstrated experience working with machinery in a food manufacturing environment
- Experience working in macadamia nut production is highly desirable
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to listen and collaborate in a team environment
- Problem solving ability
- Commitment to quality management and continuous improvement
- Commitment to Safety
- Forklift Licence (desirable)

What You Should Know About Our Operations

Our business is widespread, growing walnuts and almonds in the Riverina Region in New South Wales, pecans in Moree andmacadamias, avocados, and mangoesin Bundaberg, Queensland. In addition to fruit and nut growing, we also operate apiaries located in Temora, Nowra and Dubbo.

Off the paddock, we operatenut processing and packing facilities in Leeton, Toowoomba and Bundaberg as well as fruit packing and processing in Bundaberg. In addition, our shared services teams (Finance, Sales, ESG, Safety and People & Culture) are located across all of our sites as well as the Brisbane, Melbourne and Griffith offices.
