We are a leading meat industry manufacturer, wholesaler and retailer. We are seeking a Financial Accountant to join our team on a full-time basis at our Mascot, NSW location. This is a pivotal position within our Finance department, responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. As a Financial Accountant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the financial health and decision-making processes of the organisation, providing reliable financial information to stakeholders and management.

What you'll be doing

- Preparing and maintaining accurate financial records and general ledger accounts
- Developing and producing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards
- Reconciling bank accounts, credit cards and other balance sheet accounts on a regular basis
- Recording and categorising financial transactions with precision and attention to detail
- Conducting month-end and year-end close procedures, including accruals, prepayments and adjusting entries
- Supporting external and internal audits by providing documentation and explanations of accounting transactions and balances
- Identifying and resolving discrepancies in financial records
- Assisting in the preparation of tax documentation and working papers
- Maintaining compliance with accounting policies, procedures and relevant legislation
- Collaborating with other departments to gather financial information and clarify transactions

What we're looking for

- A relevant accounting qualification, such as CPA, CA or similar professional accounting credential, or demonstrated equivalent experience
- Proficiency in financial accounting principles,



practices and standards relevant to Australian accounting requirements
- Strong experience with accounting software and financial systems, including spreadsheet applications
- Demonstrated ability to prepare accurate financial statements and reports
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies
- Sound organisational skills with the capacity to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Solid understanding of reconciliation processes and balance sheet accounts
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- The ability to work independently whilst contributing effectively as part of a team
- Knowledge of tax compliance and reporting requirements is desirable
