Medical Scientist - Pathology (Travel Opportunities)

Your role

As a Medical Scientist (Pathology) in the Army, you'll be integral to the healthcare provided to ADF members, assisting with the diagnosis, monitoring and prevention of disease through the analysis of biological specimens.

You will work both independently and within a small group of specialist research teams to undertake tasks such as conducting biochemical, microbiological, haematological and blood transfusion testing. You'll also interact with medical practitioners and patients.

You'll get to perform your duties in a broad range of military environments, from purpose-built fixed medical facilities to deployable mobile health facilities.

In addition, as an Officer you'll lead a team of like-minded professionals, providing advice and mentorship.

Training:

The Defence Force will teach you all the skills you require for the military through leadership training at the Royal Military College - Duntroon in Canberra.

Following your initial training, you'll attend a range of military courses to enhance your skills and gain further specialist training in areas such as advanced blood transfusion procedures.

In the Army you'll get paid a competitive salary from day one. On completion of your initial military training and initial employment training, you could earn $97,168 per annum plus 16.4% superannuation, and you'll receive salary increments based on career progression.

Location





Following your initial military training in Canberra, you'll be initially posted to Enoggera Barracks in Brisbane, and may also post to other locations across Australia.

You must also:

Have completed a Bachelor of Medical Science degree (exact title may vary), and accreditation with the Australian Institute of Medical Scientists (AIMS)
