As our business continues to grow, we are seeking a talented and experienced Cook (Specialist Ethnic Cuisine) to join our kitchen team and help expand our menu offerings by delivering authentic ethnic cuisine and exceptional dining experiences for our guests.
About the Role
The Cook (Specialist Ethnic Cuisine) will be responsible for preparing and cooking authentic ethnic dishes, contributing to menu development, maintaining food quality standards and supporting the efficient operation of the kitchen.
The successful applicant will have a passion for cultural cuisine, food presentation and delivering high-quality meals in a rapid-paced hospitality environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook authentic ethnic cuisine in accordance with traditional recipes and cooking methods.
- Develop and contribute to culturally authentic menu options.
- Ensure consistency in food quality, taste and presentation.
- Prepare ingredients and manage food preparation processes.
- Monitor food quality and portion control.
- Maintain food safety and hygiene standards in accordance with Australian regulations.
- Assist with stock ordering, stock control and inventory management.
- Minimise food waste and manage kitchen resources effectively.
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff where required.
- Maintain a clean,
safe and organised kitchen environment.
- Work collaboratively with management and hospitality staff to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Minimum 2 years' experience preparing and cooking ethnic cuisine in a commercial kitchen.
- Demonstrated knowledge of traditional cooking methods, ingredients and food preparation techniques.
- Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work weekends, evenings and public holidays as required.
Desirable
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification.
- Experience in remote, regional or tourism-based hospitality operations.
- Experience training or supervising kitchen staff.
- First Aid Certificate.
