Priah Chartered Accountants provides accounting and business advisory services to a wide range of clients, including individuals, small to medium businesses, investment entities and SMSFs. We are particularly passionate about supporting female business owners with their taxation needs so that they are free to do what they do best in their businesses.

Our new digs are in the lovely leafy suburb of Lyneham. The office is light, bright and colourful just like Jackie the principal of Priah. Jackie refers to it as the perfect entertainer’s office! Being close to the city usually means parking is hard to come by but with the light rail stop at the doorstep to the office and parking available on site you won't have to worry about the commute.
Jackie recognises that a university degree is only the first step in an accountant’s professional journey. Jackie & Priah want to help staff progress through their careers by providing study leave and support from highly skilled senior staff.

YOUR ROLE
In this position you will be interacting with clients on a daily, maybe even hourly basis. From preparing their individual tax returns, to assisting senior staff with business clients in all different kinds of industries. In this role you will get your hands dirty, well as dirty as they can get using a keyboard and mouse. The role requires you to embody the Priah values, and provide a high level of support to our valued clients and staff.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Preparation of Tax Returns: Income, GST and Fringe Benefit Tax returns for various entities and structures.
- Preparation of Financial Statements:
Assisting senior staff with the preparation of financial statements for various entities
- Job Management: Being able to juggle multiple jobs at one time, and what needs to take priority.
- Time Management: We charge our time our in 6 minute intervals, so keeping track of what you do is essential.
- Client Management: Preparing the return isn’t the only part of the job, interacting with our clients and building those relationships is a major part too.
- Assisting Senior Staff: Supporting Senior staff members with various tasks.
- Communicating with the ATO: We are here to help make our clients interactions with the ATO easier. Regular communication is key.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Curious: You want to understand how everything works, not just that you can replicate it.
- Team work: While some aspects of this role require you to work independently it’s also important to us that our team can work cohesively when required.
- Numbers are your friend: I feel this is self explanatory.
- Attention to Detail: A high level of attention to detail and accuracy is key, when you are dealing with numbers day in and day out.
- Communication: Understanding the importance of high-quality grammar and expression in your written and verbal communication
- Motivated: A self- starter that can work independently - tax season is a thing. Good is never enough attitude - You have the drive to continue growing and striving for better.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
- Entry level role with a passion to learn on the job
- Commerce/Business degree majoring in Accounting (or in final year)
- Sound judgement and ability to analyse and think outside the square
- Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite
