About theRole

TheParks and Open Space Team provides delivery of maintenanceactivities related to Townsville's existing public infrastructurewithin parks, open spaces, including cemeteries. These areasprovide a range of services including recreational and culturalactivities for both residents and visitors across the TownsvilleRegion.

These positionscomplete a range of assigned maintenance and functional activitieswhich includes mowing, laying turf, planting, whipper snipping,gardening, weeding, mulching, hedging, poisoning, tree trimming andbasic irrigation. You will also drive manual light trucks whichincludes loading, unloading and tying down loads.

You’ll need to bephysically fit to perform the variety of work and be able to workin the outdoors in a hot environment.

Avariety of training is provided and there are ample opportunitiesto progress into other roles within the team.

Tobe eligible to apply for these roles, youmust have a Manual "C" class licenceand a Construction Industry White Card (30215 QLD).

Desirable skillsand tickets are below. While these skills and tickets are desired,we are open to candidates who don’t yet have these tickets but areeager to obtain them through Council:

- "MR" classlicence (highly desirable)
- Chainsaw Ticket(Level 2),
- AgriculturalChemical Distribution Certificate (ACDC)
- Plant OperatorsCertificates of Competency for the types and classes of plantutilised in this position
- TrafficManagement Implementation (TMI)
- First AidCertificate
- Certificate IIin Arboriculture and/or Certificate II inHorticulture
