As we continue to grow throughout the Newcastle and Hunter Region, we are seeking a highly organised and detail oriented Accounts Officer to join our team at our Boolaroo Head Office.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and wants to play a key role in supporting the financial success of a growing residential building business.

About the Role

Reporting to the Leadership Team, you will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business while working closely with our Construction, Estimating, Contracts Administration, Sales and Administration teams.

The successful candidate will ensure the timely processing of invoices, subcontractor payments, payroll, client progress claims and financial reporting while contributing to the smooth delivery of our residential building projects.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll & Compliance

- Process fortnightly payroll, PAYG withholding, superannuation and STP reporting.
- Maintain employee payroll records and leave registers.
- Assist with payroll compliance and reporting obligations.

Accounts Receivable

- Prepare and issue client invoices and progress claims.
- Process receipts and maintain debtor records.
- Prepare customer statements and aged receivables reports.
- Follow up outstanding payments professionally and efficiently.

Accounts Payable





- Process supplier invoices and subcontractor claims.
- Reconcile supplier statements.
- Manage payment schedules and assist with cash flow planning.
- Maintain accurate creditor records and supporting documentation.

Financial Reporting & Compliance

- Assist with month-end and year-end reporting.
- Prepare journal entries, accruals and account reconciliations.
- Reconcile Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet accounts.
- Assist with BAS preparation and lodgements.
- Prepare management reports and financial analysis.
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities.

Construction Administration

- Assist Construction and Project Managers with project cost tracking and administration.
- Maintain registers for contracts, variations, purchase orders, invoices and project documentation.
- Support contract administration and document control processes.
- Maintain the company asset register.

Office Administration

- Support day-to-day office administration and assist with coordinating office supplies and business purchases.
- Assist the Leadership Team with administrative requirements.
- Ensure company records and documentation are maintained accurately and efficiently.

About You

You are highly organised, take ownership of your work and enjoy the satisfaction of accurate financial management. You are a team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment and understands the importance of supporting both internal teams and external stakeholders.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

- Previous experience in a residential building, construction or property-related business.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in an Accounts Officer, Bookkeeping or Finance Administration role.




- Certificate IV in Accounting, Bookkeeping or equivalent qualification.
- Strong understanding of payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, account reconciliations and financial reporting.
- Experience managing progress claims, subcontractor payments and project cost tracking within a construction environment.
- Proficiency in Xero , MYOB and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience using Buildxact or similar residential construction management software.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks and deadlines.
- A proactive, solutions-focused attitude with the confidence to take ownership of responsibilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team culture.
