About the role

Trucksmart is seeking a talented and motivated Heavy Vehicle Technician & Auto Electrician (Dual Trade) to join our growing team in Beresfield, NSW. This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to work on industry-leading heavy vehicle brands as part of an authorised Scania, MAN, Western Star, Dennis Eagle and Foton dealership.

In this role, you will be responsible for performing mechanical and electrical diagnostics, repairs, servicing, and maintenance to the highest industry standards. Working with modern heavy vehicle technology and manufacturer-supported systems, you will play a key role in ensuring vehicles are safe, reliable, compliant, and operating at peak performance.

This position is central to our operations and provides ongoing opportunities to further develop your skills through OEM training, exposure to advanced vehicle technology, and a diverse range of heavy vehicle applications.

What you'll be doing

- Diagnosing and repairing electrical faults in heavy vehicles using advanced diagnostic equipment and testing tools.
- Performing high-quality mechanical repairs, servicing, and maintenance on trucks, trailers,



and heavy vehicles in accordance with manufacturer specifications and industry best practices.
- Installing, maintaining, and servicing electrical systems including batteries, alternators, starters, wiring harnesses, electronic control modules, and lighting systems.
- Carrying out mechanical diagnostics and fault-finding across engines, drivetrains, braking systems, suspension, steering, and auxiliary equipment.
- Performing routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and scheduled servicing on both mechanical and electrical vehicle components.
- Troubleshooting and rectifying complex mechanical and electrical issues on trucks, trailers, and heavy-duty vehicles.
- Repairing and replacing faulty mechanical and electrical components to ensure safe and reliable vehicle operation.
- Conducting electrical safety checks, roadworthiness inspections, and compliance testing.
- Maintaining detailed and accurate records of work completed, inspections conducted, and parts used.
- Collaborating with other technicians and workshop staff to ensure efficient vehicle turnaround and exceptional workmanship.
- Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment.
- Staying current with emerging technologies, diagnostic systems, and industry innovations within the heavy vehicle sector.
- Adhering to all health, safety, environmental, and workshop procedures and regulations.

What we're looking for

- Trade qualifications as a Heavy Vehicle Technician/Diesel Mechanic and Auto Electrician, or equivalent recognised qualifications.
- Proven experience performing both mechanical and electrical repairs on heavy vehicles, trucks, buses, trailers, or commercial fleets.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, drivetrains, braking systems, suspension, steering systems, and heavy vehicle electrical systems.




- Extensive experience working with 12V and 24V electrical systems commonly found in heavy vehicles.
- Proficiency in mechanical and electrical diagnostics using modern diagnostic and testing equipment.
- Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and manufacturer service information.
- Experience working with, or a willingness to be trained on, Scania, MAN, Western Star, Dennis Eagle and Foton diagnostic and repair systems.
- Demonstrated commitment to delivering repairs and maintenance to a very high standard of workmanship and quality.
- Strong troubleshooting, fault-finding, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in producing quality work.
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
- Valid driver's licence (HR licence highly regarded).
- Current First Aid certification (preferred).
- Knowledge of heavy vehicle safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Willingness to undertake ongoing professional development and manufacturer training.
- Australian citizenship or unrestricted Australian working rights.
