Irrigation Farm Manager – Cotton | North West NSW

Following the retirement of a long standing Irrigation Manager, South Bunarba Agriculture is seeking an experienced and motivated Irrigation Farm Manager to join our progressive family owned and operated farming business located at Mungindi in North West NSW . This is a key management role responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing the irrigation enterprise across a highly productive cotton and mixed-cropping program.
About the Role
Working closely with the General Manager and agronomy team, you will oversee all aspects of irrigation farming – from crop performance and staff management to data recording. Your team leadership and effective communication will play a crucial part managing the team to in achieve optimum yields.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, train, and motivate the team or permanent and seasonal staff
Effectively plan and budget the farming operations towards peak crop performance
Implement irrigation schedules for cotton and rotation crops for a syphon-based system
Monitor soil moisture data, water usage and compliance and crop outcomes
Adhere to and endorse a high level of safety
Conduct regular maintenance on pumps, channels, and supporting infrastructure
Operate, maintain and train others on all applicable plant,
machinery and technology
About You
You are a proactive and hands‑on skilled with a strong background in irrigated cotton production. You take pride in your leadership abilities and maintaining the highest safety, operational standards
You will have:
Commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement
Proven experience managing irrigation systems in cotton
Sound knowledge John Deere Operations Center, Agworld and other farm management software
Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting pumps, machinery and equipment
Strong leadership and communication skills
Chemical accreditation and driver’s licence (HC/MC desirable)
