About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Part-Time Accounts Manager to look after the firm’s day-to-day financial administration on a part-time basis. The role can be based in either Sydney, Melbourne or Sunshine Coast.
The role covers bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable, trust accounting, reconciliations, financial reporting, liaison with international associates and associated administration. You will work closely with the Principal, Operations Manager and our lawyers, supporting them day to day as a valued member of the team.
Key Responsibilities
■ Manage day-to-day bookkeeping, including bank and multi-currency reconciliations
■ Oversee accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing and debtor follow-up
■ Work closely with and provide day-to-day support to the firm’s lawyers as part of the team
■ Operate and maintain the firm’s trust account in accordance with legal profession trust accounting rules (where experienced)
■ Prepare financial reports and support budgeting and financial tracking
■ Liaise with international associate firms on invoicing and foreign currency matters
■ Monitor currency fluctuations and manage multi-currency transactions
■ Support the preparation / lodgement of Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS)
■ Support preparation of client fee estimates and cost disclosure documentation
■ Contribute ideas for streamlining financial processes and systems
■ Provide general office administration support as required
■ Administrative financial support to the Principal as required
Skills and Experience
■ Proven experience in an accounts or bookkeeping role, ideally within a law firm or skilled services environment
■ Trust accounting experience highly regarded
■ Registered BAS Agent preferred, or working towards registration – not a requirement of the role
■ Experience with multi-currency transactions and international invoicing an advantage
■ Proficient in cloud accounting software (e.g. Xero)
■ Strong attention to detail and reconciliation accuracy
■ Clear written and verbal communication skills
■ Able to work independently and manage competing deadlines
