Role Description The Accounts Officer supports the effective day-to-day management of the organisation’s accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking and reconciliation activities. The role requires a reliable and organised person who can work independently, maintain accurate financial records and respond promptly to accounts-related enquiries.
Key Responsibilities ● Complete daily bank and credit card reconciliations. ● Support the accounts payable function, including the timely and accurate processing of supplier invoices and payments. ● Support the accounts receivable function, including issuing invoices, allocating receipts and following up outstanding accounts where required. ● Independently manage the accounts inbox and respond to accounts-related enquiries within 24 hours. ● Escalate significant, unusual or unresolved matters to the Business Operations Manager.
● Maintain accurate accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash and general ledger records. ● Manage supplier and vendor portals. ● Assist with month-end account reconciliations and other finance administration activities. ● Prepare ad hoc financial reports and information as required. ● Undertake other reasonable duties assigned by the Business Operations Manager that support the effective operation of the finance function.
Key Requirements ● At least two years’ experience working in accounts payable, accounts receivable, bookkeeping or a similar accounting role. ● Experience using accounting software, preferably Xero. ● Strong numerical, reconciliation and data-entry skills. ● A sound understanding of accounting transactions and how they should be recorded. ● Strong attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines. ● High levels of integrity and discretion when handling confidential information. ● Good problem-solving and analytical skills, including the ability to investigate and resolve account discrepancies. ● Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities. ● Clear and professional communication skills when dealing with colleagues, clients, suppliers and other stakeholders. ● Ability to work independently while contributing positively as part of a team and ensuring that the deadlines are matched for processes, as agreed. ● Comfortable communicating with multiple stakeholders and can be a valuable team leader in areas being responsible for.
