About the role

At Synectic, we believe that strong risk frameworks and credible climate reporting will be defining sources of trust and resilience for organisations in the years ahead. As mandatory climate disclosure requirements expand and governance expectations rise, our clients across the private, local government, private, not-for-profit, and community sectors need partners who can help them navigate the change with confidence. We've built a growing practice in internal audit, risk management, governance advisory, and carbon accounting, and we're looking for a new team member to help us extend that impact. This is a unique prospect to work at the intersection of business, risk, and sustainability, helping shape how organisations manage risk and report on climate in the real world.

You'll join our Advisory & Assurance team, based in Launceston or Devonport.

- Support client engagements spanning internal audit, risk management, governance reviews, and carbon and sustainability reporting.
- Deliver practical advice to Boards, Audit Panels, and executive teams.
- Build deep expertise in governance frameworks, risk methodologies, and evolving reporting requirements.

Full-time or part-time - we're flexible for the right candidate.

What we're looking for

We're not expecting you to know everything, but we are looking for someone who's curious, capable, and ready to grow. To be successful in the role, you’ll bring:
- Progress toward (or completion of) a bachelor's degree in business, commerce, accounting, sustainability, or a related field.
- A genuine interest in risk, governance, and sustainability, and a desire to build expertise in these fast-evolving areas.
- Strong communication skills, positioning you well to build genuine relationships with clients and team members.

- A methodical, analytical mindset with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to embrace change, learn continuously, adapt, and quickly grasp new systems and technologies
- Ability to handle conflicting priorities and meet deadlines, balancing timeliness with quality and accuracy.
- Will commit to our values and ethical principles and have a focus on delivering high quality services and responsive, practical solutions.

Experience that would be a bonus

We value attitude and potential over a checklist of skills, but experience or knowledge in any of the following would be considered favourably:

- Exposure to internal audit, risk management, or governance advisory.
- Familiarity with carbon accounting, emissions reporting, or sustainability frameworks.
- Understanding of the Corporations Act, legislation, or good governance principles.
- Experience with data analysis or reporting tools (e.g. Excel, Power BI).
- Interest in or exposure to AASB standards, assurance frameworks or internal audit methodologies.

If you're excited by the idea of helping Tasmanian organisations build stronger governance, manage risk, and navigate the shift to climate accountability, and you're ready to learn, contribute, and grow, we'd love to hear from you.
