About the role
We are excited to announce an exciting opportunity for Chefs of all levels to join our team at the brand new Awaba House in Booragul, NSW. This is a full-time position that offers the perfect chance to be part of a prestigious new opening and establish yourself within our growing hospitality group. Whether you are an experienced head chef, a sous chef, or a junior chef looking to develop your skills in a supportive environment, we are seeking passionate culinary professionals to help us create an outstanding food programme from day one. This role is based on-site in Booragul and will require you to work collaboratively as part of a dedicated kitchen team to deliver high-quality cuisine that exceeds guest expectations.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and cook dishes to the highest standards, ensuring consistency, quality and presentation
- Follow recipes, food safety guidelines and established cooking procedures whilst maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen
- Manage mise en place and station preparation to ensure efficiency during service
- Collaborate with kitchen team members to meet service demands and deadlines
- Contribute to menu development and food innovation initiatives
- Assist with food costing, portion control and waste management
- Support training and mentoring of junior kitchen staff where applicable
- Maintain equipment and report any maintenance issues promptly
- Adapt to the demands of a new venue opening whilst establishing strong kitchen systems and practices
What we're looking for
- Relevant qualification or experience as a Chef or Cook in a professional kitchen environment
- Knowledge of food safety standards, health and hygiene regulations, and best practices in a commercial kitchen
- Strong culinary skills with proficiency in a range of cooking techniques and methods
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet service times consistently
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills with the ability to take direction and work collaboratively
- Physical capability to work in a demanding kitchen environment, including standing for extended periods and lifting heavy items
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends and public holidays as required
- A passion for culinary excellence and a genuine interest in hospitality
- Experience in a similar hospitality or fine dining setting is desirable but not essential for the right candidate
