As an Airborne Electronics Analyst in the Air Force, you’ll work with sophisticated electronic surveillance equipment on some of the world’s most advanced aircraft, such as the P-8A Poseidon or E-7A Wedgetail. You’ll be responsible for detecting threats, identifying illegal activity and incursions, assisting with search and rescue operations, finding and tracking submarines, and assisting with battle space management.
Your duties may include:
- using radar sensors to conduct surface surveillance, searches for small targets such as submarine periscopes, weather analysis, terrain avoidance and search and rescue
- using Electro Optics sensors to detect infrared signatures of targets
- using Electronic Surveillance Measure (ESM) sensors to search for, identify, and intercept electromagnetic emissions.
- using Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) to identify friendly units and separate from other aircraft
- using acoustic sensors to detect, classify and track submarines.

Salary Upon completion of initial military and employment training, you will enjoy a salary package starting from $103,607.
Location
Following training, you may be posted to one of the major Air Force bases around Australia, such as RAAF Base Amberley, Williamtown, or Edinburgh.
Eligibility For this role, you must be at least 17 at the time of enlistment, an Australian Citizen, and have passed Year 10 English, Maths and one STEM subject.
