Employment Opportunities
Animal Services Officer This position enforces Illinois state laws and Boone County ordinances pertaining to animal control and animal welfare. This person will be responsible for a variety of tasks including receiving and responding to public complaints, investigations, issuance of citations, patrolling assigned areas to capture stray animals, cleaning and maintaining kennel areas, and feeding and caring for animals. This position does include some weekends, holidays, and assigned after hours on call.
This position is part of the Teamsters Local 325 bargaining unit. Starting wage is $18.00-$20.00 per hour depending on qualifications and experience. The County participates in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) and offers a generous benefits package, including: health insurance, versatile spending accounts, an employee wellness program, term life insurance, supplemental insurance, thirteen (13) holidays, paid time-off (including vacation, personal, and sick leave), and a deferred compensation 457(b) plan.
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED.
