About the Role

Are you a strategic, self-directed Business Analyst who thrives on driving meaningful change and challenging the status quo?

In this key role within a Queensland State Government Department, you will lead business analysis and change management activities to enhance operational capabilities across the construction and maintenance sector. Acting as a trusted advisor, you will bridge the gap between operational needs, emerging technologies, systems, data, and business processes to deliver strategic, solutions-based outcomes. Key Responsibilities

- Liaise across management and the wider business to understand operational needs; build strong networks and deliver expert advice on business solutions, systems, data, and processes to influence strategic directions.
- Lead BA activities including developing process maps, procedural documentation, templates, tools, and change management artefacts to improve operations and support solution implementation.
- Lead the development and maintenance of key project artefacts aligned with government project/program methodologies; contribute to refining analysis methodologies, templates, and communication forms.
- Seek out innovative opportunities, ask the right questions to bridge information gaps, and leverage deep business insights to enhance research and operational outcomes.
- Deliver explicit, concise, and effective communications to senior leadership and broader stakeholders to articulate proposed changes and expected business benefits.
- Mentor, coach, and supervise junior team members while acting as a sounding board on business analysis and improvement practices.

What We Are Looking For

- Proven experience engaging diverse stakeholders and market leaders to gather insights and understand complex operational issues.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated success presenting structured findings, recommendations, and solutions to senior management.




- Ability to research emerging technologies, adopt strategic perspectives, and identify simpler, practical solutions to streamline business processes.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience applying business analysis techniques to deliver improvements across IT, business processes, systems, and data.
- Self-directed and adaptable with sound judgment on when to take initiative and when to escalate risks or issues.

Desirable Experience & Qualification

- Qualifications or strong interest in Business Analysis, Information Technology, Information Systems, or related fields.
- Knowledge or expertise in areas such as business process improvement, business intelligence, enterprise systems, IoT, mobile technologies, or data science.
- Familiarity with project management or continuous improvement methodologies.
