Role Description The Apprentice Electrical Fitter Mechanic internship is an on-site role located in Tully, QLD. The apprentice supports qualified electricians and maintenance staff with the installation, servicing, and repair of electrical equipment and machinery used in sugar production. Day-to-day tasks may include assisting with routine inspections, basic fault finding, cable and conduit work, cleaning and organizing tools, and recording maintenance activities under supervision.

The role also involves learning to interpret electrical drawings, following safety procedures, and complying with site policies and standards. The internship is structured to provide practical training,



exposure to industrial electrical systems, and progression toward trade competency.

Qualifications

Ability to learn and apply basic electrical principles, including safe use of tools, equipment, and test instruments under supervision.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to following safety procedures, lock-out/tag-out processes, and workplace health and safety regulations.

Good problem-solving skills and willingness to assist with troubleshooting straightforward electrical and mechanical issues.

Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively with qualified tradespeople and other team members.

Interest in a trade career in electrical fitting and mechanics, with a willingness to undertake formal training or apprenticeship requirements as needed.

Basic numeracy and literacy skills suitable for reading technical information, recording data, and completing training materials.

Ability to work on-site in an industrial environment, including readiness for physically active work and adherence to PPE requirements.

Any prior vocational training, school-based technical subjects, or exposure to electrical or mechanical work is desirable but not essential.
