Lead effective governance and support strategic decision-making An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced governance professional to join a high-performing team as APS5 Parliamentary and Governance Coordinator.

Based in either Townsville or Canberra, this role provides high-quality secretariat, governance and executive support services to enable effective decision-making and organisational outcomes.

This position is ideal for a highly organised and motivated skilled with experience in governance, committee support, executive coordination or high-level business administration who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and delivering quality outcomes.

About the Role

As APS5 Parliamentary and Governance Coordinator, you will play a key role in supporting effective governance arrangements, ensuring Board and committee operations are delivered professionally, efficiently and in line with legislative and policy requirements.

You will provide end-to-end secretariat support, coordinate governance activities, quality assure documentation and support senior stakeholders through accurate advice, strong organisation and proactive planning.

Key responsibilities include

- Delivering high-quality secretariat and governance support for Board and committee activities.
- Preparing, reviewing and quality-assuring documentation to support informed decision-making.
- Providing executive support and coordination for senior leaders and stakeholders.
- Managing competing priorities while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality and attention to detail.
- Identifying opportunities to improve governance processes and operational practices.
- Supporting team members, encouraging collaboration and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.




- Building effective relationships across internal teams and external stakeholders.

About You

You are a proactive and adaptable governance professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in delivering exceptional administrative and coordination support. You will bring:

- Experience providing governance, secretariat, committee or executive support services.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare high-quality documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to interpret policies, legislation and complex information.
- The ability to exercise sound judgement and handle sensitive and confidential matters professionally.
- A collaborative approach with the ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders.
- A proactive mindset, with the ability to anticipate needs and identify practical solutions.
- Confidence working independently while contributing positively to a broader team environment.

with the flexibility to be based in either Townsville or Canberra. This is a 6 month assignment offering between $56 - $62 per hour super, base don experience. This is a fulltime role through to late January 2027 with potential extension.
