- As an Artillery Soldier, you’ll be part of the team that operates at the forefront of combat and security operations. You will learn to be the eyes and ears of the battlefield, by providing artillery fire, systematic surveillance and accurate target acquisition.
- As an Armoured Vehicle Crew member, you will employ night fighting equipment, communication systems, navigate terrain during the day and night, apply basic field craft, maintain personnel fitness and participate in dismounted operations.
- As an Infantry Soldier, you’ll learn to carry out patrols and surveillance tasks, cordon and search tasks as well the skills required to provide security for other units and agencies. You’ll learn how to locate enemy targets, fight at close quarters and how to effectively seize and hold ground.

Following your initial military training and initial employment training, you could be posted to one of the many Army bases and units across Australia. The majority of positions are located in Melbourne, Darwin, Townsville, Brisbane and Sydney.

Salary:

Upon commencing training, your starting salary will be approximately $60,517 per annum plus 16.4% superannuation and your pay will increase as you progress through training.

On completion of your initial military training and initial employment training, you’ll enjoy a package starting from $82,322 to $86,453 per annum depending on your role.

Eligibility:

For this role, you must:

- Be at least 17 at the time of enlistment, an Australian Citizen, and have completed an Australian Year 10 education (or equivalent) with passes in English and Mathematics

- Be reasonably fit and healthy.Keeping fit is a big part of joining the ADF. You’ll need to pass a physical fitness test before you join, but don’t worry, we'll give you tips to help you prepare
