About The Role We are a globally respected national not-for-profit organisation that values its team members and is committed to fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture. We are currently seeking a talented Assistance Dog Instructor (level 3-4) to join our National Training/Instructor team by playing a key role in supporting our volunteer and client dog journey. This role is based in Orchard Hills area of Sydney but will involve potential travelas well.

ADA breeds, trains and places assistance dogs with Australians in unique situations. We currently specialise in support for people with a disability, autism or post-traumatic stress disorder; as well as providing a range of services to these individuals and their families. Our assistance dogs can potentially provide increased independence, self-esteem, improved health and relationships to individuals and families.

The role of Assistance Dog Instructor is diverse and covers several aspects of Assistance Dog work. This will include elements of dog training with dogs entering our advanced training stages, and then further specialised focus on executing our client/dog placement program and classes. Engagement with our valued Volunteers and puppies in their care.

About YOU & Your Experience The desire to work with dogs who have a big purpose in this world A robust focus on both our dogs and clients, with the ability to build authentic and ongoing relationships

Empathy and understanding of the diverse needs within our client groups

Sound understanding of dog behaviour and learning principles, as well as a commitment to positive reinforcement

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a genuine ability to connect and build rapport

You thrive being part of a team who leans in to help each other succeed

Have strong ability to balance your daily priorities, but an openness and ability to pivot when needed

Certificate III in Animal Behaviour and Training, equivalent or higher. Or be prepared to complete the accreditation once employed

Proven professional experience working with dogs (Assistance Dogs highly regarded)

Proven ability to maintain accurate client reports in a timely manner (Salesforce CRM knowledge highly regarded)

Strong problem-solving abilities

We are seeking a talented and experienced Volunteer Program Coordinator to join our Operations Team. This rewarding full-time opportunity will allow you to play a vital role in sharing our story and supporting the volunteers, puppies, and dogs on their journey to becoming life-changing Assistance Dogs. This position is based at our National Training Centre in Orchard Hills and will require travel to other ADA sites, including our National Training School in Waterfall.

You & Your Experience Reporting to the Volunteer Program Manager, the Volunteer Program Coordinator will play a key role in coordinating volunteer recruitment, onboarding, communications, and community engagement activities. You will ensure volunteers feel welcomed, supported, and valued from their first enquiry through to becoming confident and committed members of the ADA family. You’ll help create meaningful volunteer experiences while supporting the people who play such an important role in our mission.

How You’ll Help Bring Our Story To Life Coordinate national volunteer recruitment and onboarding processes, creating a welcoming and supportive experience for volunteers from their very first interaction.

Maintain accurate volunteer records, documentation, and compliance requirements to support a safe and effective volunteer program.

Act as the first point of contact for volunteer enquiries, providing friendly, timely, and professional support.

Help organise volunteer training sessions, events, and community initiatives that strengthen engagement and connection.

Collaborate with Training and Operations teams to ensure volunteers feel supported, confident, and valued throughout their journey.

Support reporting and data tracking on volunteer hours, engagement, and retention to help continuously improve the volunteer experience. What You’ll Bring To The Pack Experience in volunteer coordination, administration, community engagement, or a related field.

Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly, empathetic, and professional approach.

A proactive, can-do attitude and the ability to build positive relationships with a diverse range of people.

Experience using databases, CRMs, or volunteer management systems.

The ability to respond to challenges promptly and provide practical solutions.

Qualifications or certifications in a relevant field are desirable.

May already have or happy to provide a NDIS Workers Screen Check and Working with Children Check.
