Waratah-Wynyard Council have an exciting chance available for a Assistant Accountant to support our growing municipality.
Reporting to the Financial Accountant, this position plays an important role in supporting the accounting team with a range of finance and accounting tasks. The role is primarily responsible for Council’s bank reconciliation processes and provides key backup support for Council’s payroll function.
The successful applicant will have strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. A working knowledge of Council activities and projects will be developed in the role, with a focus on understanding organisational needs and contributing to effective service delivery.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone currently completing, or about to commence, a degree in accounting, someone who holds a Diploma of Accounting, or an experienced finance professional looking to contribute to local government.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Currently completing or hold a Diploma of Accounting qualification or experience in a senior finance support role.
- Well-developed and accurate numerical skills.
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to the delivery of best value services to stakeholders through the pursuit of personal excellence, integrity and continuous improvement practices.
- Demonstrated experience in operating in a team environment, in particular sharing workloads and supporting colleagues in a positive manner.
